ZIXING LI
I am currently pursuing a MEITE program with a specialization in Adaptive Learning Analysis. My academic journey is centred around enhancing the landscape of future education through various facets, including educational technology (EdTech) and pedagogical approaches.
In terms of my career aspirations, I am keen on specializing in course design and the development of digital education platforms.
Prior Education
I was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi, China, where I spent the first 16 years of my life. I embarked on a new chapter by moving to Canada for my 12th-grade studies. After successfully finishing high school in Canada, I pursued my higher education at the University of Toronto, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Commerce. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I delved into various subjects such as management, marketing, accounting, and finance, laying a robust groundwork in business fundamentals.
Professional Background
Human Resources intern
-
After completing my undergraduate studies, I secured an internship opportunity at the Training and Development Division of the Human Resources Department at Shanghai New York University. During this internship, I was responsible for preparing and promoting workshop events and assisting in the planning of training content for employee skill development. This internship experience offered me valuable insights into human resource management and employee development.
Course Instructional Designer
-
I worked as as an instructional designer at Goodwill, where we offer STEAM courses to K-12 students in the community, integrating advanced technologies such as drones, robots, and 3D printers. I focus on creating guides that are clear and engaging, facilitating quick engagement and learning for learners. My favorite part is designing the activity sections of the instructional guides. This requires detailed work to ensure all users can quickly understand and effectively engage with the activities, ultimately helping them learn new technologies rapidly.
Fun Facts
One unforgettable and important experience for me was when I suggested the topic of "mental agility" as part of the employee development content during my internship. Given the rapidly changing world we live in, adapting to change and stepping out of one's comfort zone is crucial. I prepared a presentation about this learning project and successfully convinced my manager to implement it. This initiative is still ongoing, and it's something I'm extremely proud of.
Outside of work, I'm an avid cat lover. During my time in college, I had two adorable cats, one American Shorthair and one British Longhair. They became an integral part of my life, and I couldn't bear to part with them when I finished my university studies, so I brought them back to China. My parents also fell in love with my little feline companions.
